Dr. John Harrison
Many patients appreciate that surgery often can provide immediate relief
from pain or illness, and Dr. John Harrison appreciates that fact as well.
"I became a doctor because I was interested in how the human body worked, and wanted
a job that both fulfilled my curiosity and allowed me to help others," Dr. Harrison
said. "I chose surgery because I enjoyed the immediate gratification of fixing a
Dr. Harrison has been practicing general, laparoscopic and oncologic surgery for
more than a decade. Previously, he served for four years as a General Medical Officer
in the United States Navy. He sees his role not as only a healthcare provider, but
as a teacher.
"I really enjoy teaching," Dr. Harrison said. "Educating patients about their surgery
helps them understand what we are doing, and what to expect post-op. We spend a
long time before surgery discussing the plan, and the expected recovery."
Dr. Harrison is married and has one son. When he's not working, Dr. Harrison enjoys
hiking, skiing, camping, hunting and fishing with his family.
